South Korean eyewear label Gentle Monster has finally made its way to Singapore! The eyewear brand is best known for its unique designs, and has been making waves globally after it was spotted on actress Jun Ji Hyun (Gianna Jun) in My Love from the Star in 2014. Gentle Monster has also collaborated with renowned brands like Opening Ceremony, Hood By Air, Henrik Vibskov, as well as South Korean actress Gong Hyo Jin, and designer Aimee Song. EXID was in Singapore for their Asia Tour with the exception of the group’s leader and main vocalist, Solji, who has been on a break after being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last year. The show went on with the remaining members, LE, Hani, Hyelin and Junghwa, who collectively filled the hearts of all LEGGOs present at Kallang Theatre with each of their own charms and talents, making it a memorable night.
Kick-starting the youth month of July, SHINE Festival is the beginning of many events and activities lined up for the youth as a rally call for younger singaporeans to #OwnYourDreams. Festival goers had a chance to find out more about activities such as from extreme sports, e-sports and the good ole’ dance and music from booths around the event. In line with SHINE Festival’s aim of empowering young Singaporeans to bravely pursue their dreams, the SHINE X *SCAPE Talent Development Programme was set up to provide a platform for aspiring talents to learn from industry professionals. Hwang Chi Yeul first debuted as a singer in 2007 with two albums, ‘Chi Yeul’ and ‘Five Senses’. He spent his twenties doing part-time jobs, and working as a vocal trainer until late-2014.
He started gaining recognition after appearing on a reality singing program, ‘I Can See Your Voice’ – wowing the audience with his heartfelt rendition of Im Jae Bum’s “Confession”. He described the programme as one that turned his life around; one that showed him a glimmer of hope when he wanted to give up on music. The AOMG Follow The Movement Tour hit our shores most recently to the delights of the K-hip-hop and R&B fans of Singapore. Kicking off the month of May with a high note, the concert featured five artistes under its roster – Jay Park, Simon Dominic, Loco, Gray and DJ Pumpkin.

Rain, who has been actively acting in dramas since his discharge from the army, connected back with music through his world tour. The last time we heard from him in Singapore was at MCM’s grand opening at Marina Bay Sands – his first public appearance after his discharge. He remembers Singapore as a place with an abundance of delicious food and shared that he was excited to see everyone again. Fans gathered at the venue hours before the slated time of Valentino’s grand opening to search for the best spots to see their favorite celebrities. By 6pm, 45 minutes before the guests of the luxury boutique opening began, the venue was already packed.
Jessica Jung, Hong Kong TVB actresses Linda Chung and Charmaine Sheh, as well as Cantopop singer Pakho Chau were invited to grace the opening of Valentino on the night of 13 January 2016.
