There were 11 awards given out to top influencers from each country around the region – Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, and Indonesia. Winners from Singapore include: Naomi Neo (Lifestyle), Georgina Poh (Health & Fitness), Shirley Wong (Food), Edmund Tay (Parenting), Tricia Ong (Beauty), Valerie Wong (Fashion).
Jianhao Tan and Benjamin Kheng won Top YouTube Personality and Breakout Influencer of the Year respectively; and the Influencers’ Choice Awards (Singapore) went to Naomi Neo, Eunice Annabel and Night Owl Cinematics. Night Owl Cinematics also bagged Top YouTube Channel and Top Influencer of the Year.
The 4-hour event was co-hosted by our very own Sheikh Haikel and Canadian YouTube personality Peter Chao. Influence Asia also saw performances by ShiGGa Shay, Gareth Fernandez, Malaysian rappers Joe Flizzow and SonaOne, Indonesian singer Raisa, and Thai rapper Dandee.

Highlight of the event was definitely the special appearances made by South Korean rapper Jay Park, Tiffany Hwang from Girls’ Generation, YouTube sensation baby Yebin Kim, and rapper Redfoo from LMFAO as guest presenters.
From being distracted by the huge ring on her finger at the Red Carpet to hugging her new friend during the award presentation of “Top Parenting Influencer”, Baby Yebin definitely charmed the crowd with her cuteness. It was also her first trip out of Korea and we could be sure that the award had made her stay in Singapore a little more sweet, topping off her dazzling and sweet personality that we have all come to love!

As the presenter for Top Fashion Influencer Award and carefully decked in an oversized outfit, with a beanie, and a pair of tall brown boots, we thought that Jay Park could be a potential winner himself. Not all the time would you see someone dressed like that and still look cute, but we will leave that for you to decide!
The star of the night, Tiffany Hwang, definitely garnered the most cheers and screams – so much that the emcee shared that the script had written “let the fans scream” when announcing Tiffany as the next presenter. Presenting the Influencer of the Year award for the different countries, it had definitely made winning the award even more exciting for the winners. Thai YouTube personality Bie The Ska turned the handshake into a hug, while JinnyboyTV (MY) and Night Owl Cinematics (SG) both couldn’t wait to jump into a selfie with Tiffany. They were the envy of many that night – to all aspiring influencers and the audience – because who could resist Tiffany, right? Previously at the 2013 YTMA, Tyler the Creator also gave Tiffany a ‘loving’ hug at the photo wall (Yikes!).
Redfoo also brought the house down with his firing (literally) performance and ended the event on a high note. J-Walkerz were a tad sad when they realised that Jay Park was not the surprise performer – but it’s alright folks, we could all look forward to him coming back for a performance, right?
The event marks a new era in what it means to be a trendsetter and it was a celebration of the new stars that arose with social media. With the rise of social media as the new and alternative platform to connect, we could definitely see the event growing from hand to hand in the years to come, as more people rise up to the role of being influencers, simply with a touch of an icon on our mobile phones.
