Having joined the second season of hit reality survival programme <PRODUCE 101> as an independent trainee, Kim Jaehwan worked his way up the ranks and earned himself a spot in the two-year project group, Wanna One, that ended their promotions earlier this year. Since then, the vocalist has been working on his solo debut and had released his first mini album titled 'Another' back in May.
Kim Jaehwan was prepared to make it a memorable evening for Singapore WIN:Ds last weekend at his ‘2019 Kim Jae Hwan Fan Meeting – MIN:D in Singapore’.
The night started off with an upbeat performance of ‘Designer’, one of the tracks from his album which had a fun accompanying choreography. All smiles and evidently in a really good mood, Jaehwan was very excited to spend the evening with Singapore WIN:Ds.
After a round of introductory talks, fans were able to take a peek into Jaehwan’s “mind”. The interactive segment was a casual affair for WIN:Ds to get to know their favourite star better, and was also the beginning of a night full of heartfelt wit from the singer.
When an idol is in town, you can expect questions and activities relating to Singapore’s food. On that note, Kim Jaehwan took on a challenge to do a CF (short for “Commercial Film”, a term that is widely used in Korea) using the nostalgic Singapore Iced Gem Biscuit snack and Kaya Toast that was prepared.

“Mmmm…Oooo...Sweet! Very sweet!” – Jaehwan went ahead with the limited English he knew to describe their taste. To make up for it, he came with a spontaneous jingle to the tune of the music playing in the background. We all love a musical genius and WIN:Ds were surely entertained!
Prior to the fanmeet, fans were invited to send their questions for Kim Jaehwan and several questions were picked from a raffled to be answered by the man himself.
Jaehwan shared his skincare routine and was stuck when asked on his favourite concept style. Cute or Sexy Jaehwan? “It’s too hard to choose (I like both),” he sheepishly admitted and turned to Singapore WIN:Ds for their help. Which do you prefer? We cannot decide either, can we have both please!
And Jaehwan favourite go-to karaoke song? Park Hyo Shin's 'Goodbye'.
Coming from a vocalist, Jaehwan’s choice of music was not at all surprising – judging from how he delivered that night, we can say that he is very well on his way to be an amazing singer just like Park Hyo Shin.
Now, what is a Kim Jaehwan fanmeet if we do not get to see more of what he is best at? Living up to the title of being Wanna One’s main vocalist and now even as a soloist, Jaehwan still continues to hit all the high notes effortlessly – especially during his performances of 'Love You Still’ and ‘My Star’.
Jaehwan had once opened up about his difficulties with dancing during competition days on variety programme, ‘Living Together in an Empty Room’. But this very same man was busting out some very slick choreography moves while covering Demi Lovato’s ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ and Trey Songz’s ‘Neighbours Know My Name’ – the star has definitely come a long way and proved himself as an all-rounder.
Clearly everyone that did not want the night to end were left wanting for more after Jaehwan ended the night with his title debut track 'Begin Again'. But as the saying goes, ‘All good things (must) come to an end’.
The two hour long fanmeet ended with a heartfelt goodbye from the singer as he reluctantly took his leave. “I will always be there beside you, shining. I hope that you will also be beside me, and shine forever. Please shine so that I can shine as well!...Let’s have fun again next time!”
Well, we definitely cannot wait for Jaehwan to return again. Perhaps the next time he comes back to meet Singapore WIN:Ds, it will be a full solo concert?
Big thank you to UnUsUal Entertainment for having us at the event!
