Kim Myung Soo, also known as L from Korean boy group INFINITE, was in town recently for his first ever solo fan meeting. The singer-actor was all smiles as he talked about the differences between promoting as a singer and an actor at his press conference. Kim Myung Soo recently acted in MBC’s historical drama, The Emperor: Owner of the Mask, as a commoner named Lee Sun.
Kim Myung Soo expressed that he was not expecting such a big turnout at his press conference and also mentioned that he was not feeling well but the response he received from Inspirits gave him lots of energy.

The actor revealed that while he still feels that many areas where he is lacking as “L”, but is thankful that he has been able to meet fans as a singer, nevertheless. Having promoted using his stage name “L” for the past seven years, why does the singer-actor want to use his birth name “Kim Myung Soo” now? The humble artist explained that he has showed many sides of him as L the singer, and the decision to promote as Kim Myung Soo was with hopes that he could show different aspects of himself as an actor.
Since he has promoted as “L” before, Myung Soo shared that he feels confident that he will be able to approach more fans as Kim Myung Soo and show different sides of himself. He wishes that fans will watch him grow as L and Kim Myung Soo. Additionally, he added that one of the benefits of being an actor is so that fans can see him in different roles. He hopes to continue being both a singer and an actor in the future.
Other than singing and acting, Kim Myung Soo is also known for his passion in photography. He is often seen snapping away with his camera, and had also released a photo essay previously.
"I'm trying my best to always carry my camera along with me and take a lot of photos. If there is an chance in the future, I want to introduce a new photo essay to fans that is different from my previous ones. I hope that my fans will look forward to my new photos."
He continued, “Singapore is famous and its night view. I want to go to the merlion and MBS to shoot its night view.”
Kim Myung Soo ended off the press conference with a warm message for his fans. He expressed that he feels thankful that so many of his fans came down to see him even though it's been quite a while since he last came to Singapore.
A Night with Kim Myung Soo

Myung Soo proceeded to surprise everyone with a short surprise performance of ‘Singapura’ and the use of Singlish word ‘Abuden’ (of course). He was confused when he was introduced to the word; but after understanding what it meant, Myung Soo used the word at every chance he got.
One such instance was during one of the segments when he was asked whether it was challenging to wear a traditional costume for his character in his latest drama. He gave witty Singlish response of “Abuden!” which aroused approving laughters and cheers from the fans. He added that the costume was heavy and it was hard to act with the mask on as viewers were not able to see his expressions clearly.

Known for his passion for photography, Myung Soo took the chance to share some photos from his collection as well as those he took during his stay in Singapore. Myung Soo also expressed his wish to release a part-two of his photo essay book, Bravo Viewtiful.
What is a fanmeet without getting the chance to interact with your idol? Lucky Inspirits got a chance to get up close and personal with the idol through stage games, a mini fan-counselling session, and hi-touch and group photo opportunities. Kim Myung Soo he took the effort to get closer to fans by making his way round the stalls and giving them advice about their worries.
One of the fans asked for advice on ways to become more positive, to which he replied, "I usually have a lot of negative thoughts, but I think that having a positive mindset is important.” He then added, “If you have tried a lot of things but still think that it's not working, don’t give up even if it's not working 99 percent of the time because there's still a 1 percent chance that it'll happen."
Through the various performances and activities, Kim Myung Soo was able to create precious memories with Inspirits in Singapore. He also promised to return for another fan meeting in the future with more works.
