If you were one of the Monbebes (what MONSTA X lovingly calls their fans) waiting to catch a glimpse of the 7-member boy band at their outdoor press conference held at Plaza Singapura on 2 March, you would have witnessed the the heavy downpour just before the conference commenced.
Despite the weather, the boys were all smiles as they entered the venue to the fervent cheers and screams of Monbebes. They were looking dapper in dark navy suits that further accentuated their good looks. After the boys of MONSTA X greeted their fans, they proceeded to answer questions from the media while constantly providing fan service and looking out for Monbebes throughout the press conference..
The best moment for MONSTA X in 2017 was probably going on their very first world tour. And having had their very first win with latest hit song DRAMARAMA, the question had to be raised -- “What has changed for MONSTA X since then?” To which they replied: “Surely we have gained more fans, but nothing has changed.”
During the press conference, I.M expressed – in fluent English – that he would like to rescue Monbebes from the rain if he could. “Please do not catch a cold! We are worried about you falling sick from the rain. Thank you for waiting for us!”
Also, did you know that Jooheon and I.M took the opportunity to film the music video for their MIXTAPE, Be My Friend in Singapore during their visit last year? Bromance alert! Jooheon and I.M reenacted their hug from the music video. Any #JooKyun shippers out there?
Continuing the fan service was a special segment for each member to take centre stage to show off their charms to Monbebes. Each member went for what they were good at – beatboxing, singing, dancing and aegyo. Returning the love, Monbebes chorused a birthday song for Wonho whose birthday was on 1 March. Happy #0301WonhoDay! On the topic of talents, which is the one artist that MONSTA X would love to collaborate with? They unanimously mentioned American singer-songwriter, Halsey. Perhaps we can look forward to a collaboration in the near future? That would be interesting!
Not forgetting that one question that will always be asked to international artistes: What is the one Singapore dish they would love to try? No prizes for guessing it right -- “Chilli Crab!” They mentioned that they were planning to try it later that night.
After finishing up the remaining questions from the media – which revealed tidbits of the members along the way, MONSTA X continued the Hi-Touch and Meet & Greet session with lucky Monbebes. True to their sweet personalities, they gave up their seats for the fans during the photo-taking session and were seen wiping off the water on the seats using their sleeves. How sweet!
The group’s current focus is on their world tour as well as their comeback. Hyungwon and Kihyun hope that they would be able to return to Singapore again for a full concert soon. Singapore Monbebes, are you looking forward to that day?
