Dressed in a neat off-white blazer, Ko Kyung Pyo was all smiles during the press conference of his first fanmeet in Singapore on 7 Jan. SeoullySG also had the chance to personally ask him some questions to get to know the heartthrob a little better.
Despite the popularity of recent his works in “Jealousy Incarnate”, Ko Kyung Pyo mentioned that his breakthrough role in drama series 'Reply 1988' was a “turning point” in his career. He added that the success of 'Reply 1988' has allowed him to take on more roles, and even sit in this very seat to hold fan-meeting as well. Before 'Reply 1988', Ko Kyung Pyo said that he only took on "comical" and "immature" roles.
Ko Kyung Pyo played the role of Go Jung Won in ‘Jealousy Incarnate’ where he made viewers swoon over the heart fluttering scenes with Pyo Na-Ri, played by actress Gong Hyo Jin. The actor admits that the most difficult part of filming those scenes was having to stop himself from cringing over his lines. He added that he was embarrassed for having to “act cool” during those romantic scenes as well.
As a lover, the actor commented that he is not the type of guy to shower girls with materialistic things to win her love. In fact, he would do things that allow him to show his sincere emotions. He feels that the most romantic thing he could do for a girl is to cook for her and her family members. Isn’t he sweet?
Ko Kyung Pyo’s ideal type is someone that is strong, speaks for herself and knows what she is doing. Adding on to this, he said that he prefers a girl who knows how to love herself.
Ko Kyung Pyo also starred alongside Jo Jung Suk – where he portrayed a strong friendship and bond on screen with Jo’s character Lee Hwa Shin. He shared a trait about himself, mentioning that when he is out with his friends, he is the kind that knows how to have fun. He added however that when he’s alone, he would go mountain climbing, and would rather listen to calming and soothing music.
On the topic of taking on new roles, Ko Kyung Pyo said that he would like to take on a role that showcases a new side of him. The actor also mentioned that, although not 100% confirmed, he might be embarking on a new project in the first half of 2017. We’re definitely looking forward to more of his works!
Fun Fact!
During the press conference, Ko Kyung Pyo revealed that he has a cousin staying in Singapore! He mentioned that due to his tight schedule and lack of free time in Singapore, he is unable to visit his cousin or do things he would like to do here. A few of the things he wanted to do included swimming at the infinity pool of Marina Bay Sands as well as visiting the Singapore Flyer.
We hope that he will come back to our sunny island again so that he can experience Singapore better!
