For all the talk about KARA vs G-Dragon this week, in the end it did not amount up to much. The releases staggered in such a way they would not exactly go into direct competition with each other. Plus, for all intents and purposes, they appeal to distinctly different audiences.
With that being said, its still worth taking a look at the both of them at one go.

G-Dragon’s “Crooked”
This video falls very strongly into the “love it or hate it” category. The whole thing basically revolves around G-Dragon dressed in the usual outlandish fashions, and running around alleys or engaging in some random acts of social disturbance.
Some would just like how the whole thing seems so way out and cool in that sense, while there would be others who would just consider it sensory overload. My suggestion would be for all of you to just have a view and see which category you belong to.
Props to the song though, for not chasing the strongest hook or the hardest sound, but preferring to stick with a progression that most listeners would be comfortable with, and impressing subtly to grow on the listener with time.

KARA’s “Damaged Lady”
Compared to the way out vibes constantly felt in the G-Dragon video, the KARA song threads a safer path. I have always found the KARA Korean releases to have a sexier, but slightly generic air to them compared to the Japanese releases, and this song is no exception. I like the hooks at the start of the song, and the singing has certainly come a long way since the “Rock You” days, but the chorus is a little too muted for my tastes, and the song does seem to run of steam near the end, about the two and a half minute mark onwards.
Still the KARA loyalists would be pleased with this release, for it still gives them what they would want, plus a little dose of sexy.
