When Korean idol group, Nu’est, came on stage, my first impression of them was that they were rather serious individuals. No smiles for the fans or cameras as they got ready for the first song of the night, ‘Beautiful Ghost’. Apart from their good looks, what got my attention were their synchronised and well-rehearsed dance moves. They did not disappoint when they performed their next song ‘Action’. No doubt, Nu’est had started the second night of Vizit Korea with a blast!
Right after they ended their second song, the icy cold, serious expressions on their faces disappeared as they started waving and smiling genuinely to their fans. Apparently, my first impression was wrong. The boys of Nu’est seemed really friendly and they were passionate about their fans. They introduced themselves and expressed their gratitude to the fans for giving them a warm welcome. One of the members, Ren, even described Singapore as ‘a beautiful place with beautiful fans’. That was quite flattering.
After which, they proceeded with a short question and answer session. Fellow member, Baekho, expressed his interest in going on the Singapore Flyer. Expectedly, they were aware of Singapore’s iconic foods, which were Chili Crab and Chicken Rice. The boys also suggested some interesting Korean Traditional games that include, ‘Yutnori’ (a board game with four halved wooden sticks), Kite-flying and ‘Jegichagi’ (a game similar to Singapore’s ‘Capteh’).
The event continued on with more performances. Nu’est brought the beat and mood down a notch and were immersed in character as they performed ‘Hello’ which was different from the songs they’ve performed so far at this time during the event. After that, they displayed their rather cheeky side during the song ‘Yeppo’ (Pretty).

They carried on with a Lucky Draw, which consisted of 3 rounds of 5 winners and 1 additional round with 15 winners. The boys of Nu’est were really genuine in giving hugs to fans when they came up to receive their prizes. The prizes consisted of albums, posters and merchandises respectively for each round. Aron also brought much laughter to the audience as he tried pronouncing names of Singaporean fans and addresses.
In the following 3 songs, the boys continued to impress the audience with their dynamic dance moves and their unique charms. But of course, even if Nu’est did make a mistake, no fan would notice since I’m pretty sure they were too in awe to even realize. I’m quite entertained at how Nu’est actively engages the audience.

When mentioned that Nu’est will be giving away their personal items, ear-deafening screams filled the hall. Every L.O.Λ.E (Nu’est fans) would want a piece of Nu’est to bring home. Again, the boys seemed more than happy to give hugs to the winners. Before performing the last few songs, they expressed how delighted they were to be in Singapore and how much they’ll miss their ‘Beautiful fans’ in beautiful Singapore.
I was surprised at how they still made the effort to perform the last three songs with so much passion and energy. They relented to the mini dance segment for ‘Action’ was done nicely despite being obviously drained. Nu’est had many more interactions with the fans during their encore pieces, ‘Sandy’ and ‘Beautiful Solo’. Leader, JR, even went down the stage to interact with the fans.
The event ended with a high-five event with the boys. It was a successful event seeing how happy the fans looked right after Nu’est left the stage. After the much-anticipated event has ended, I’m impressed at how much professionalism these boys have. I look forward to seeing how Nu’est flare among the other rookies in the Hallyu Wave.
