Do we love 2NE1?
Yes!
Yes, we do, together with the other 7500 people who attended their concert last Saturday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
We were extremely blessed to be able to attend their concert, and are quite sure that this was all we need to truly fall in love with what the 4 lovely ladies had to offer. The K-pop powerhouse was back in Singapore with their second concert, aptly named "All Or Nothing". 2NE1 performed more of their latest hits in the 2 hours or so, but not forgetting their good ole’ title hits that made them who they are today.

Anticipation was running high in the hall even before the concert started. Blackjacks, all armed with the trademark white winged 2NE1 lightsticks, were fanchanting to the music videos that were playing on the screen. Opening strong to Crush and Fire, together with blasts of well, fire, it was a hint to the goodness that was ahead of us for the night. Dressed in red and gold outfits that resembled royalty but at the same time gallant, the concert was then revealed to have different themes for each segment. The first segment was given the colour red, where 2NE1 had hoped to represent that females can be as masculine and powerful as men. While the behind-the-scenes video was meant as a filler between the first and second segment, we felt that it was meaningful and helped concert goers connect better to what they were seeing. However, the concert was so well-thought with symbolisms that concert goers can get a gist of each theme even without the video, as proven with the second segment.
The second segment was when the girls displayed their vocals and proving their worth as one of the top girl groups in K-Pop. Coming back to the stage on a series of white swings that took them to different levels, the girls were similarly dressed in white, setting the scene and atmosphere for the upcoming mid-tempo songs. However, staying true to the uniqueness of being YG, each of them were spotted with their own outfit that best reflects their character. We particularly liked their outfits for each segment – each outfit fits each of their character so well! Performing their hits, Ugly and Come Back Home unplugged, these songs brought out the best of their vocals.
It was refreshing to hear Minzy belting out the notes with Dara playing her supporting role silently, but her vocals were heard loud and clear. During Come Back Home, Blackjacks' fan event – where everyone took out their phones and turned on their flashlights with a sticker attached to it – created a pretty pink on the floor section and green on the seats. Leader CL was visibly touched and clearly enjoying how the crowd was singing along with them.
White is a colour so pure, so demure. We definitely felt what it means to have music as a universal language – most of the audience probably did not speak or understand Korean, but there was a sense of connection was in the air. Especially during Ugly, when everyone sang the fully English chorus, feeling something special in their hearts. Perhaps it was consensus that we all had times we felt ugly, but at that point of time during the concert, the song gave us strength and a comforting pat on the back. We sincerely hope Bom would remember how it was like in the Stadium and tide over the tough times!

Enough of the sadness, now on to some kickass! Although CL showed her softer side during the previous segment, she completely kicked away any impression of anyone who thought girls were weaklings without power. Her undisputed stage presence erupted from within during her solo, The Baddest Female and MTBD. Her charisma was so strong and intense, it was hard to believe that this is also the kind and caring CL we know on 2NE1TV. The girls then joined her to close the concert with a bang, performing their greatest hits, I Am The Best and I Don’t Care. Black was meant to signify rebel and how girls can go wild as well, and we can guarantee that the audience went wild together with 2NE1, enjoying the last few moments of the concert to their hearts content.
The encore took us all by surprise, trying what we believe is probably the first and the only handshake and walkabout we would see in a while. The 2NE1 girls made their entry into the hall from the common entrance that is facing the stage, waving and shaking fans’ hands as they made their way back to the stage. It brought fans closer to their girls than ever before and we would like to applaud YG for such a bold and great move! The girls eventually headed back to the stage without a hitch and we honestly wondered if it was possible for more stars to the same. It was during the encore that we finally saw the girls playing around, goofing with the toys that were thrown on stage.
Just when we thought we could finally settle our hearts and be contented with what we have, 2NE1 dropped hints of a comeback really soon! If any of you are missing the girls already, then fret not because they promised they will be back soon with their family! (Time for a YG concert in Singapore?)
